Low-energy operated doorsets are an essential aid to accessibility and assist in meeting the aims of The Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) within public buildings. They are ideal for use in areas where doors fitted with conventional door closers could hinder access.

Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies have developed a Hospital Disabled WC Steel Doorset, complete with Briton automated door controls to offer the perfect solution for these locations.

Our single swing, low-energy operated accessible WC doorset provides a 1000mm effective clear opening width, suitable for wheelchair access, to meet the recommendations in Approved Document M and BS 8300. BS 8300 - 6.3.4 states: “A low-energy power operated door operator should be considered for use on swing doors with relatively low levels of pedestrian usage as these doors can provide powered opening assistance to users when required.”

Normbau door furniture is suggested for accessible openings due to its ability to combine three key accessible design considerations; a shape which feels comfortable to grip and operate, a wide choice of colours to assist visual contrast and a surface which is ‘not cold to the touch. Uniquely, Normbau is also available with built-in Microban™ antibacterial protection which assists to minimise cross-contamination of HAIs* prevalent in sanitary areas.
